While many fellow 15-year-olds were worried about sitting at the “popular table” at lunchtime, Drew McIntyre was already training to become a WWE Superstar. He didn’t have to wait terribly long to achieve his dream, either, as the endlessly athletic Scotsman skyrocketed from the U.K. independent scene to the big show, WWE, at just age 22. The outlook was so bright for the 6-foot-5 McIntyre that when he first arrived, Mr. McMahon labeled him a “future World Champion.” The Chairman was eventually proven correct, though fulfilling that prophecy did not come easily for McIntyre.

Strap Match: Drew McIntyre vs. Karrion Kross w/ Scarlett
The referee puts the strap on McIntyre’s wrist. Kross refuses to put it on and throws it aside. Kross is making McIntyre wait. Scarlett grabs the other end of the strap and pulls to distract McIntyre. Kross viciously attacks McIntyre and knocks him to ringside. Kross hits him with the strap, and they brawl into the crowd. McIntyre initially gets the better of him. Kross attacks McIntyre and knocks him to ringside. This match has not started yet. It will not start until Kross puts the strap on his wrist. Kross goes to suplex McIntyre onto the steel steps, but McIntyre blocks it. McIntyre gives him a suplex on the floor. McIntyre bounces Kross off the commentary table and the steel steps. McIntyre knocks him into the ring post and climbs the steps with him. McIntyre then leaps off the steps and slams Kross onto the apron.

McIntyre gets Kross in the ring and puts the other end of the strap on his wrist. The match can now officially begin.

McIntyre beats Kross with the strap and knocks him to ringside. McIntyre unloads with vicious strikes. Scarlett stands in McIntyre’s way to stop him. Kross then uses the strap to pull McIntyre shoulder-first into the ring post. The referee checks on McIntyre. Kross does it again and gets him in the ring. Kross hits an arm breaker and continues to take it to him. McIntyre chops him back, but Kross grabs him for a Krossjacket. McIntyre fights it, so Kross smacks him in the chest with the strap. Kross pulls him out of the ring and hits a flatliner on the commentary table. Kross ties McIntyre around the ring post and smacks his back with it. Kross beats McIntyre down and poses with Scarlett. Kross gets in the ring and pulls McIntyre in by the strap. Kross hits a Doomsday Saito for a near fall.

Kross takes a few moments before beating McIntyre with it. McIntyre fights through the pain and takes Kross down with some clotheslines before hitting a belly-to-belly suplex. McIntyre connects with a neckbreaker and kips up. McIntyre goes for a Future Shock DDT, but Kross powers him to the corner. McIntyre fights back with a spinebuster and a jackknife pin for a near fall. They exchange right hands in the ring before McIntyre hits him in the neck with the belt. Kross responds with a shot to the face as well. They go back and forth with belt shots. Kross goes down to his knees, so McIntyre beats him with the strap. McIntyre connects with a Future Shock DDT before kipping up again. McIntyre goes to the corner and counts down, but Scarlett gets between him and Kross. Scarlett blinds him with pepper spray. Kross hits a Kross Hammer for the win.

Winner: Karrion Kross

30-Man Royal Rumble Match

The #21 entrant is Drew McIntyre for the surprise return.

Dew hits the ring as Moss and Corbin look on. Drew drops Ziggler and unloads on Moss. Drew fights off Moss and Corbin now. Drew eliminates Moss and then eliminates Corbin. Drew stands tall to a big pop. Drew then goes to the floor and unloads on Corbin and Moss some more, launching them with big throws. Drew takes half of the steel ring steps and rams them to Corbin’s face. Drew with another big shot to Corbin and then he slams Moss on top of the second half of the steps. Referees surround Drew and try to get him to relax. The #22 entrant is Kevin Owens. Owens and Drew meet at ringside and start brawling.

They bring it in the ring and Owens hits a big Pop-Up Powerbomb to Drew, then a corner cannonball to Ziggler. Owens yells out about this being his show and fans pop. Owens unloads on Sheamus now, then Riddle. Owens stomps Riddle’s bare feet, then kicks him in the face. The #23 entrant is Rey Mysterio in his 13th Rumble match. Drew runs under Owens’ legs and sends him flying with a head scissors. Rey springboards off the second rope with a crossbody to Sheamus. Rey dumps Riddle to the apron but he hangs on. Riddle saves himself as Owens goes for Rey. Owens nails a big Stunner to Rey.

Sheamus and Drew take turns on Owens now. The #24 entrant is Kofi Kingston. Kofi and Owens fight in the corner. Kofi springboards in from the apron but Owens shoves him out of the air. Kofi flies out and lands on the barrier to perform his annual Rumble stunt but he hit the barrier so hard hit feet briefly touched the ground. He tries to hide it but the referees come over and we get a replay. Kofi is eliminated. The #25 entrant is RAW Tag Team Champion Otis.

Otis levels Ziggler and tosses Riddle on his head. Sheamus tries to dump Rey. Otis scoops Drew for a powerslam. Ziggler works on Riddle now. Sheamus still has Rey on the apron. Owens pounds on Otis in the corner now. Drew takes a breather while Ziggler works on Riddle. The #26 entrant is Big E. Big E runs in and launches Owens with a belly-to-belly suplex, then catches Riddle in mid-air and launches him with a big throw. Big E runs the ring and hits a splash on Owens. Big E rallies the crowd now but Sheamus drops him with a Brogue Kick. Rey gets on Sheamus’ back and they go at it now. Sheamus catches Rey in mid-air and nails a rib breaker, and another. The #27 entrant is rapper Bad Bunny.

Bunny hits the ring and goes right to the top. He flies and hits a crossbody on Sheamus. Owens kicks Bunny but the Stunner is blocked. Bunny takes Owens down with a scissors. Riddle wants to team up with Bunny but Bunny kicks him and gets the crowd hyped up before hitting the Bunny Destroyer. Bunny is fired up but Sheamus decks him. Sheamus tosses Bunny but he hangs on. Sheamus goes for a Brogue to kick him off but Bunny ducks and Sheamus hits the floor. Sheamus has been eliminated and he’s furious. Ziggler attacks Bunny now. Rey helps Bunny and they do an assisted 619. Bunny eliminates Ziggler. Bunny and Rey go to shake hands but Bunny tosses him to the apron. Owens drops Bunny with a Stunner. The #28 entrant is Shane McMahon. Otis eliminates Rey while Shane is coming out.

Shane rushes the ring and unloads on Owens. Fans chant “you still got it!” at Shane as he unloads on Otis now. Owens superkicks Shane and yells at him to get out of his ring. Owens tries to toss Shane but it back-fires and Shane eliminates Owens. Drew attacks Shane and tries to eliminate him now. Otis watches as Big E and Riddle go at it. Otis and Big E both work on Riddle now. The #29 entrant is Randy Orton to a huge hometown pop.

Orton hits the ring, ducks Big E and drops him with the RKO. RK-Bro eliminates Big E. Orton with the RKO to Otis. Riddle leaps off Otis’ back and drops Drew with a big RKO. Orton poses up top for a big hometown reaction. RK-Bro eliminates Otis now. It’s down to Orton, Riddle, Shane, Bunny and McIntyre. The #30 and final entrant is Brock Lesnar to a huge pop.

Lesnar seethes as he marches to the ring, ready to destroy. Lesnar enters as the others look on. He drops, Shane, then Riddle, then unloads on Orton in the corner with thrusts. Lesnar tosses Orton, then Shane with German suplexes. Lesnar with strikes and a German to Riddle. Lesnar stands tall and clotheslines Orton over the top rope. Orton has been eliminated and fans are not happy. Bunny looks terrified at Lesnar’s dominance.

Bunny squares up with Lesnar now and Lesnar laughs. Lesnar with a big F5 to Bunny. Lesnar scoops Bunny and tosses him over the top rope. Bunny has been eliminated. Lesnar tosses Riddle with ease next and Riddle has been eliminated. Lesnar goes to work on Shane and clotheslines him over the top rope. Shane has been eliminated.

Lesnar stares Drew down now and the crowd is standing. Drew talks some trash as they meet in the middle of the ring. Lesnar shoves Drew away as Drew backs him off. Lesnar unloads and rams Drew into the turnbuckles. Lesnar scoops Drew for the F5 but Drew fights off and nails a Glasgow Kiss headbutt. Lesnar dodges a Claymore Kick, then scoops Drew for a F5 but tosses him over the top rope instead. McIntyre has been eliminated and Lesnar is the winner.

Winner: Brock Lesnar

Drew McIntyre Vs Madcap Moss W/Happy Corbin

Moss grabs a side headlock but gets shot off and McIntyre drops him with a shoulder. Moss backs McIntyre into the corner and knocks him down, then cackels. McIntyre grabs him and chops him in the corner, then drops him with a clothesline. Moss fires back but Drew knocks him out of the ring and goes outside to belly-to-belly suplex him.

Corbin distracts Drew and Moss capitalises. Moss gets him back in the ring and suplexes him for a two-count. A shoulder tackle, followed by a rear chinlock from Moss. Drew is sent to the corner and Moss runs for a wild shoulder tackle but nobody’s home. Drew hits a neckbreaker and a belly-to-belly suplex, then looks for the Future Shock but Moss wriggles free and punches him.

Moss gets caught with a sit-out spinebuster for a near-fall. Moss catches a flying McIntyre and hits a fallaway slam. Drew hits Moss with a Future Shock DDT for a near-fall. Drew puts Moss on the top rope and chops at him but gets knocked down into the tree of woe. McIntyre sits up and tosses Moss across the ring, then hits the Claymore kick for the win.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre is interviewed backstage. He says Madcap Moss caught him off-guard with his terrible jokes but he’s a great athlete. Moss and Corbin suddenly attack McIntyre. They beat him down and put a chair around his head, then Corbin slams a steel girder onto the chair as Adam Pearce and referees try to stop them.

WWE Title Match: Bill Goldberg vs. Drew McIntyre

Tom is joined at ringside by Samoa Joe and Byron Saxton. The familiar music starts up for tonight’s opener and we go backstage to the locker room door of WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg. Fans chant “Goldberg!” as security escorts him through the backstage area. Goldberg makes his entrance as the pyro goes off on the stage. Goldberg hits the ring as we cut to a video package for this match. Out next comes WWE Champion Drew McIntyre with his sword entrance.

Drew hits the ring and raises the title as more pyro goes off to a pop. Drew and Goldberg stare each other down. The bell rings and we get formal ring introductions from Mike Rome as the two competitors talk trash in the middle of the ring. The trash talking continues as the referee raises the title. Drew strikes first and then delivers a big Spear out of nowhere.

Drew follows Goldberg to the floor and attacks. Goldberg counters and sends Drew into the steel ring steps. The match has not officially started. Goldberg charges and sends Drew flying through the barrier with a Spear. Goldberg returns to the ring as the referee checks on McIntyre. The match still has not started.

Drew returns to the ring but he’s clutching his ribs. Goldberg waits. Drew tells the referee to ring the damn bell as he checks on him. Goldberg charges but Drew rocks him. Drew then immediately nails a Claymore Kick for a close 2 count. Drew goes for another Claymore but it’s ducked. Goldberg delivers a Spear. Goldberg waits in the corner for Drew to get back up. Goldberg delivers another Spear but Drew kicks out just in time for a pop.

Goldberg calls for the Jackhammer but delivers a knee to stun Drew again. Goldberg delivers the Jackhammer in the middle of the ring but Drew kicks out. Goldberg can’t believe it.

Goldberg goes for a Spear in the corner but he hits hard as Drew moves. Drew waits in the opposite corner now. Goldberg slowly turns around and Drew levels him with a Claymore. Drew covers for the pin to retain.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

After the match, the music hits as Drew stands tall with the title, raising it in the air as fans cheer. We go to replays. The music stops as Goldberg and Drew stare each other down. Goldberg walks over and nods several times in a show of respect. They shake hands and embrace as Drew’s music starts back up. Goldberg raises Drew’s hand as the crowd cheers them on. Drew is all smiles before they embrace again. Goldberg makes his exit as Drew looks on. Drew goes to the corner and raises the WWE Title with the WrestleMania 37 sign hanging in the background.

Extreme Rules Match (for the Challenger Only) for the WWE Title: Dolph Ziggler vs. Drew McIntyre

We go to the ring for tonight’s WWE Title match as Dolph Ziggler is out. WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is out before Rome does formal ring introductions. Ziggler takes the mic and says Drew made a big mistake by letting him pick the stipulation after signing the contract for the match. Ziggler finally announces the stipulation – Extreme Rules… for Ziggler only. Also, Ziggler will win the title if McIntyre walks away or gets disqualified. Drew looks on, maybe a bit concerned or not, and then hands the title off to the referee.

The match begins and here we go. Ziggler tries to go for a weapon early on but Drew keeps control early on. Drew brings it back in and waits for a Claymore but Dolph escapes to the floor. Dolph cannot be counted out. Drew follows and Dolph goes for his eyes. Ziggler brings a steel chair in but Drew catches it. Drew has to throw it to the floor as he cannot use it. Drew blocks the superkick and overpowers Ziggler some, launching him with a huge overhead suplex. Drew works Ziggler over on the outside and then brings it back in.

Drew ends up leveling Ziggler over the top with a huge clothesline. Drew follows and Ziggler counters, sending him into the ring post and then the barrier. Ziggler sends Drew back into the post as the referee counts. Ziggler pulls a table from under the ring. Drew makes it back in at the 7 count. Drew goes back out and lifts Ziggler for a long vertical suplex. He looks to possibly put Ziggler through the table but he has to move and drop Dolph on the floor instead. They bring it back in and Drew hits a big sitdown powerbomb for a close 2 count.

Drew takes his time and talks some trash to Ziggler while he’s down. Ziggler gets up and kicks Drew with a low blow but it’s legal for Ziggler. The crowd boos him. Ziggler goes back out and brings several steel chairs in the ring.

Ziggler unloads with steel chair shots to keep Drew down. Ziggler with a stiff chair shot to the throat. Drew gets up but Ziggler swings and knocks him down with a big chair shot to the shoulder. Drew kicks out at 2. Drew rolls to the floor, clutching his throat. Ziggler leaps off the apron but Drew catches him and rams him into the apron. Drew then launches Ziggler over his head, over the announce table. The referee counts.

Ziggler ends up hitting a big Fame-asser off the announce table. Ziggler rolls back in and Drew follows at the 8 count. Drew is upset. He keeps fighting and comes off the top with a right hand but misses. Ziggler jumps on his back with a Sleeper hold now. Drew gets the top rope but rope breaks won’t work against Ziggler in this match. Ziggler wears Drew down to one knee as the crowd tries to rally. Drew slams Ziggler into the mat. Drew charges but runs into the ring post instead. Ziggler keeps this up but Drew hits a big clothesline and they both go down.

More back and forth in the ring now. Drew with a big Alabama Slam in the middle of the ring. Drew misses the big kick and Ziggler comes right back with the Zig Zag on a chair. Drew still kicks out at 2. They go back to the floor and Ziggler superkicks Drew. Drew is on a table now. Ziggler goes back to the top and puts Drew through the table with a huge flying elbow drop. Drew eventually makes it back in to avoid the loss and Ziggler can’t believe it as he yells out. Ziggler approaches and Drew nails a big Glasgow Kiss headbutt to send him back down.

Drew goes for the Futureshock DDT but Ziggler counters and hits a Fame-asser. Ziggler with another Zig Zag but Drew gets right back up. Ziggler puts him right back down with the Uranage on a steel chair. Drew still kicks out at 2. Ziggler ends up preparing for Sweet Chin Music in the corner. He goes on but Drew blocks it with a big Claymore Kick to get the pin and retain.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

After the match, Drew’s music hits as he is handed the WWE Title. Drew yells out and raises the title as we go to replays. Drew stands tall and raises the title in the air as the crowd cheers him on.
