 Drew McIntyre

While many fellow 15-year-olds were worried about sitting at the “popular table” at lunchtime, Drew McIntyre was already training to become a WWE Superstar. He didn’t have to wait terribly long to achieve his dream, either, as the endlessly athletic Scotsman skyrocketed from the U.K. independent scene to the big show, WWE, at just age 22. The outlook was so bright for the 6-foot-5 McIntyre that when he first arrived, Mr. McMahon labeled him a “future World Champion.” The Chairman was eventually proven correct, though fulfilling that prophecy did not come easily for McIntyre.

We go right to the ring and out comes WWE Champion Drew McIntyre as Mike Rome does the introduction. Tom is joined by WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler on commentary.

Drew calls the camera man in the ring and speaks to the fans again. He thanks them, also on behalf of the other WWE Superstars, of the privilege of allowing them into their living rooms. He also mentions the positive internet feedback. Drew says it’s all surreal. It’s his lifelong dream. It’s surreal he beat The Beast in under 5 minutes, and it’s surreal that this happened 20 minutes later… he shows us how he defeated Big Show, which aired as last week’s RAW main event. Drew says this is his first time watching the match back. Drew goes on about beating Show with the Claymore Kick.

Drew says he beat Lesnar and then Big Show, back-to-back, setting the time for how he will be going forward. He says he will be a different kind of champion. Drew says this is his mission statement as champion – if you other Superstars deserve a shot at the title, you will get one. He can’t quite articulate how much the title means to him, but… the music interrupts and out comes WWE United States Champion Andrade with Zelina Vega. Andrade is back from his rib injuries. Vega introduces Andrade as the real champion of RAW. Vega and Drew have some words. Vega says they just wanted to come out and congratulate Drew because who else can say they had 2 WrestleMania moments?

Vega says while Drew was having his moments, her associate suffered an injury that robbed him of his. Vega says it would be a shame if someone injured Drew and took his title coming off his big night. Drew recalls the last time they faced and how it cost him 6 months from his career. Drew says if Andrade wants this match, champion vs. champion, then he’s got it. Tonight. Andrade finally speaks and says last time he took Drew’s title, he took Drew out of action and tonight, there will be no more Senor Nice Guy. Drew takes off his coat and readies for a fight while Andrade shakes his head no. Andrade and Vega head to the back as Andrade’s music hits. Drew lays down the title in front of him and tells Andrade to bring it while looking on from his knees.

Back from the break and Drew McIntyre is pacing around in the back. Charly Caruso approaches and asks if he has any comments on what Zelina Vega has said tonight. He points to a scar on his arm and says he looks at it at least a few times a week, and it reminds him how Andrade almost took everything from him when he previously put him on the shelf. Drew doesn’t forgive and forget. He promises to hurt Andrade and promises to Claymore Andrade, and if Andrade has to take 6 months off because of him, then so be it. Caruso thanks him and walks off.

Drew McIntyre vs. Andrade

We go to the ring for tonight’s non-title champion vs. champion main event and out first comes WWE United States Champion Andrade with Zelina Vega, Austin Theory and Angel Garza. WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is out next, talking trash back to the heels as they taunt him. Drew and Andrade stare each other down. Drew kneels down and poses in the corner as Andrade raises his title in the air. Vega gets in Drew’s face and talks trash. Drew asks Andrade if he’s going to control her. Andrade taunts Drew and Drew says Andrade is his now, he belongs to Drew. The referee restores order and calls for the bell.

Andrade strikes first to start but it does nothing. Drew drops him with a headbutt. Drew takes Andrade to the corner and hits a big chop. Drew with more big strikes in the opposite corner. Drew chops Andrade into another corner as Team Vega talks trash from ringside. Drew catches Andrade with a huge kick in the corner. Andrade goes to the floor to regroup with his partners. Drew follows and drops Andrade ribs-first over the barrier. Drew chops Andrade around the ringside area as the referee counts.

Theory and Garza distract Drew, talking trash. Drew turns back around to Andrade pulling him shoulder-first into the ring post. Andrade turns it around on the floor now, beating Drew around and into the barrier. Andrade brings it back into the ring and focuses on the arm. Vega looks on and she’s all smiles. Drew stops more punishment to his hurt arm and sends Andrade to the apron. Andrade with an armbar using the top rope now. The hold is broken and the referee checks on Drew.

Andrade goes to the top and leaps off the top but Drew catches him. Andrade fights out of a suplex attempt. Drew levels Andrade with a big clothesline. Drew drops Andrade again. Drew levels Andrade with a big boot to the face. Drew goes to the top and nails a big right hand on the way down. Drew kips up as the others look on from ringside while Vega yells at Andrade to get up.

Drew manhandles Andrade some more. Andrade avoids the Futureshock DDT and nails a big elbow. Drew avoids an attack from the floor and back-drops Andrade onto Theory and Garza. Drew follows and chops Andrade above his partners, who are still down. Drew brings it back in and goes to the top but Vega distracts him from the apron. Andrade crotches Drew. Andrade goes for the top rope Hammerlock DDT, the same move that injured Drew in NXT, but it’s blocked. Drew ends up nailing a big Alabama Slam in the middle of the ring.

Drew waits for Andrade to get up and taunts him. Andrade gets up and Drew immediately flattens him with a Claymore Kick. Drew covers for the pin to get the non-title win.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

After the match, Drew stands tall as his music hits. Seth Rollins’ music interrupts for the distraction as Andrade takes Drew down with a chop block to the knee. Rollins hits the ring and drops Drew with a big shot in the middle of the ring. Rollins delivers the Stomp to put Drew back down. Rollins looks out at the camera while we see the WWE Title belt laying on the mat. Drew slowly gets back up but Rollins quickly puts him right back down with another Stomp. RAW goes off the air with Rollins standing tall over McIntyre.
