While many fellow 15-year-olds were worried about sitting at the “popular table” at lunchtime, Drew McIntyre was already training to become a WWE Superstar. He didn’t have to wait terribly long to achieve his dream, either, as the endlessly athletic Scotsman skyrocketed from the U.K. independent scene to the big show, WWE, at just age 22. The outlook was so bright for the 6-foot-5 McIntyre that when he first arrived, Mr. McMahon labeled him a “future World Champion.” The Chairman was eventually proven correct, though fulfilling that prophecy did not come easily for McIntyre.

Back from the break and we see MVP and Bobby Lashley hunting WWE 24/7 Champion R-Truth. They find him and WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is there. They have some words and MVP wants the champs to put their titles on the line in tonight’s tag team match. Drew eventually agrees to make this a Winner Takes All match after Truth interrupts and accepts the challenge first, annoying Drew. MVP and Lashley leave. Truth jokes that he can be Truth 2 Belts before the night is over. Truth walks off and Drew isn’t impressed.

We see Akira Tozawa and some of his ninjas approaching WWE 24/7 Champion R-Truth in the back. One of the ninjas is dressed as a referee. Tozawa speaks some in Japanese. Truth says if that’s how Tozawa wants it, he can get it. He threatens to crane kick them all and they back off, but only because WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has appeared. Truth thinks it’s because of him. Drew says Truth accepting the challenge back there was out of order. Drew asks Truth if he understands the seriousness of the situation as they could both lose their titles. Truth says he understands and he knows what to do. He walks off and we go back to commercial.

R-Truth catches up with Drew McIntyre in the back. He spoke with the powers that be and now the only title that will be online in their match will be the WWE Title. Drew is still frustrated and Truth just plays dumb. Drew can now lose his title if Truth gets pinned in the match. Truth just needs someone to believe in him. Truth goes on and asks Drew to trust him. Back to commercial.

Tag Team Match for the WWE Title: MVP and Bobby Lashley vs. R-Truth and Drew McIntyre

We go back to the ring and out first comes MVP and Bobby Lashley. WWE 24/7 Champion R-Truth is out next, rapping his way to the ring. WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is out next. Drew will lose his title in this match if he or Truth submit or get pinned. We get formal ring introductions from Rome and Drew’s title is raised in the air.

Drew tells Truth he’ll be the one to start off. Drew stares Lashley down before the lock up and go to the corner. Drew backs off as the referee counts. They shove and Lashley gets in Drew’s face. An aggressive brawl breaks out now. Lashley comes out of a corner with a clothesline. Drew rocks him next. Drew with a Glasgow Kiss headbutt and a clothesline to drop Lashley. Lashley is right back to his feet but Drew manhandles hi some in the corner. Drew ends up in the opposite corner, allowing MVP to get a cheap shot in right in front of the referee. Lashley with a shot to the throat. Lashley runs across the ring with a big shoulder thrust to the gut. MVP tags in for a double team on Drew.

Drew with a big Spinebuster on MVP. Drew goes over and knocks Lashley off the apron to the floor. Drew with a neckbreaker to MVP. Drew is ready to put him away but Truth tags himself in and Drew isn’t happy. Truth gets sent to the floor. Lashley follows and launches Truth into the barrier as Drew looks on concerned. We go to commercial.

Back from the break and Lashley dominates Truth, beating him around the ring and back into a corner as Drew looks on from the apron. Lashley puts a boot to Truth now. Drew drops down to get a closer look and cheer Truth on. Lashley with another big shot in the corner. MVP tags in and nails a running big boot to the face for a close 2 count. Drew is looking a bit worried as he reaches for a tag now.

MVP misses a running boot. Truth comes right back with a scissors kick to send him down. Drew tries to rally the crowd for Truth while he’s down. Drew and Lashley tag in at the same time. Drew with two clotheslines and a big overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Drew counters but Lashley blocks the Futureshock DDT with an elbow. Drew launches Lashley across the ring again but MVP is legal now after tagging in. Drew sends MVP to the floor and follows, sending him into the Plexiglas barrier a few times.

Drew goes on and brings MVP back in, nailing a big double axe handle from the top. Drew kips up for another pop. Drew yells at MVP to get his ass back up. Drew grabs him and hits the Futureshock DDT in the middle of the ring but Lashley breaks the pin. Truth tries to run interference but Lashley tosses him to the floor. Lashley charges but Truth moves and Lashley runs into the steel ring steps. MVP tries to roll Drew from behind but he blocks it. Drew with a Claymore Kick to MVP to knock him back down. Drew has the pin open but he stops and points at Truth for a pop. Truth tags in and goes to the top. Drew helps launch him from the top onto MVP for the pin to retain.

Winners: Drew McIntyre and R-Truth

After the bell, Drew stands tall with Truth as they hold their titles up. Drew dances with Truth to his music as we go to replays. Drew’s music starts up now as he and Truth raise their titles in the air.

The Viking Raiders are shown backstage asking someone if he’s decided on joining The Raid or not. It’s WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. They do some comedy and Drew looks ahead to the post-RAW celebration if they can win tonight, and says he will have turkey legs for Erik and Ivar. Ivar likes the idea of this. Drew says they might want to stick around and watch what happens on The VIP Lounge. Drew walks off and we go to commercial.

We go to the ring and MVP is out for another edition of The VIP Lounge. MVP welcomes everyone and starts praising his guest for tonight, saying he has the single-most devastating move in WWE. MVP goes to bring Bobby Lashley out but the music interrupts and out comes WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. MVP is surprised.

The crowd chants for Drew as he hits the ring. Drew jokes around that MVP was giving him a grand introduction. MVP tries to speak up but Drew keeps on, raising the WWE Title in the air. MVP says they are not friends but more importantly, why is Drew here? Drew couldn’t help but notice Lashley and Lana were having an issue backstage and he knows MVP is about to bring them out. Drew knows MVP was about to start bragging on him and his Claymore Kick, so continue on. MVP says no, he was about to talk about Lashley and his Full Nelson.

Drew says he’s still feeling last week’s Full Nelson. Drew says MVP doesn’t know about the Full Nelson but he knows about the Claymore as he’s taken several lately. MVP says this is all part of his business plan, which will culminate this Sunday when Lashley rag-dolls Drew again and wins the WWE Title. Drew jokes that MVP is going to show Lashley the secret to all those 0 world title wins he had. Drew is tired of talking. He’s going to give a countdown, then kick MVP in the face. He can take it like a man or get chased down and beaten up anyway. Drew counts but Lashley comes from behind in the ring. They face off. Drew says this is how it’s going to go. Drew raises the title and cuts a promo on Backlash. He turns out of nowhere and drops MVP with a Glasgow Kiss headbutt as Lashley watches. The music hits and out comes The Viking Raiders, Erik and Ivar. They have RAW Tag Team Champions The Street Profits with them, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins. Lashley and MVP re-group at ringside, as do Drew and the others. We go to commercial.

MVP and Bobby Lashley vs. The Viking Raiders

Back from the break and Bobby Lashley goes at it with Ivar to start. Lashley unloads and hits a Flatliner for a 2 count. MVP tags in for more offense on Ivar in the corner, unloading as the referee warns.

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre watches from a chair at ringside. RAW Tag Team Champions The Street Profits are also watching from ringside. Lashley comes back in and works over Ivar but Ivar turns it around. We see Lana watching backstage as MVP tags back in after Lashley gets rocked. Erik comes back in to keep up the attack on MVP in the corner.

Erik rocks MVP into the corner with strikes. Ivar tags back in with a big thrust in the corner. Ivar grounds MVP by his arm now. Erik tags in for the big double team to MVP. Lashley comes back in but he fights Erik off and drives him down for a close 2 count. Lashley mounts Erik with punches now. Lashley beats Erik back down in the corner and tags MVP back in for more of the same. Drew is all smiles at ringside, taunting the heels.

MVP with a big kick to the back of Erik and a low dropkick for a 2 count, and another. MVP shows frustration and covers for another 2 count. MVP grounds Erik by his shoulder now. Lashley and MVP manhandle Erik near their corner, keeping him down as the referee warns them. MVP tags back in for a double suplex and they nail it. MVP covers for 2. Erik ends up leveling Lashley with a big right. Ivar tags in as does MVP. Ivar drops MVP and unloads while he’s down, stopping to yell out. Ivar gets decked in the corner as MVP moves. Lashley tags in but Ivar sends him to the floor with a big boot after an impressive counter. Lashley sends Ivar face-first into the announce table.

Lashley and MVP have words with The Street Profits at ringside. Ivar flies over at them and takes MVP and Lashley down next to the announcers. We go to commercial.

Back from the break and Erik has Lashley grounded by his arm in the ring after the earlier chaos at ringside. Erik takes it to the corner and Ivar tags in to keep the attack going. Ivar grounds Lashley. Lashley breaks free with a big clothesline. Lashley with a big corner shot, followed by MVP with a big running boot to Ivar in the corner. MVP covers for a 2 count. MVP with another pin attempt but no luck.

We see Lana backstage watching again. Charly Caruso asks if it bothers her that her husband asked her to stay backstage during his matches. She calls MVP a leach but she will respect her husband’s wishes because they will be champion soon. Lana says she’s been focusing on her marriage and now wants to focus on herself to make 2020 the year of Lana. We see Lashley ground Ivar in the ring again as Drew stares them down. Lashley catches Ivar with a big powerslam for a close 2 count. Lashley keeps the attack going on Ivar and in comes MVP again. MVP pounds on Ivar with kidney shots in the corner. Ivar fights out of the corner but MVP rocks him back to one knee. Ivar finally tags in Erik, who blasts MVP and unloads on him with strikes in the middle of the ring.

Erik also knocks Lashley off the apron. MVP charges but Erik catches him with a big overhead suplex for a pop from everyone, including The Profits at ringside. Ivar tags back in for the big double team sequence on MVP in the corner. Erik then nails the Hammer of Thor with Ivar on MVP in the corner. Lashley breaks up Erik’s pin. Ivar sends Lashley to the floor. Lashley and Drew have a moment at ringside after Lashley bumps into him. Lashley runs right past Drew and hits a Spear on Ivar on the floor. Drew and Lashley stare at each other. More back and forth between the two teams now. Erik levels MVP in the ring and yells down at him. Lashley runs back in and applies the Full Nelson to Erik from behind. Lashley manhandles Erik for a few seconds to get the win.

Winners: MVP and Bobby Lashley

– After the match, MVP and Lashley stand tall in the ring as Drew looks on from the outside. Ivar runs in and slugs MVP to the mat while Drew and Lashley are staring at each other while Drew is still on the outside. Lashley turns around and applies the Full Nelson on Ivar. Drew ends up running in and breaking the hold with a big Claymore Kick, sending Lashley out of the ring but still on his feet. Drew stands tall with the title as his music hits, taunting Lashley and warning him for Backlash.

Charly is backstage with Drew McIntyre, asking if he’s concerned about Bobby Lashley when it comes to facing MVP tonight. Drew loves challenges and if MVP wants to get back in the ring to take another Claymore, that’s fine with him. Lashley can have another one too. Drew goes on about lining everyone who wants one up and giving them a one-way ticket to Claymore Country. He walks off.

Back from the break and out first comes Bobby Lashley. MVP is out next for tonight’s non-title main event. MVP greets Lashley as he enters the ring. WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is out next for a pop.

Drew poses with the title before we get ready to go. Lana’s music hits and out she comes before they get going. Drew smiles but MVP and Lashley aren’t happy. Lana walks around Lashley at ringside. The bell rings and Drew unloads on MVP in the corner. MVP fights out but Drew turns it right back around and beats him down in the corner.

Drew with big chops in the corner as Lashley looks on. Drew blocks a shot from MVP and levels him with a clothesline. Drew drops MVP with a Glasgow Kiss headbutt, sending him out of the ring to the floor. Drew goes out and stares at Lashley to warn him. MVP takes advantage of the distraction, sending Drew into the steel steps and then the Plexiglas barrier.

MVP brings Drew back in and floors him with a big boot. MVP covers but Drew kicks out at 1. MVP strikes but Drew clotheslines him again. Drew keeps control as Lashley looks worried. Drew goes to the top and nails the flying right hand to MVP. Drew kips up for another pop. Drew waits in the corner for MVP to get up. Lashley pulls MVP out to safety before the Claymore Kick can be delivered.

Drew runs and launches himself over the top rope to the floor, taking Lashley and MVP down. Drew returns to the ring with MVP and counts down, then delivers a big Claymore for the pin to win.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

After the bell, Lashley immediately hits the ring before Drew can get to his feet from the pin. Lashley applies the Full Nelson to Drew and manhandles him in the middle of the ring for a few seconds. RAW goes off the air with Drew still stuck in the Full Nelson.

MVP is in the ring for another episode of The VIP Lounge. He brings out his guest and introduces him as the soon-to-be former WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre.

Drew comes out and destroys the set. Drew wants to know where Bobby Lashley is. MVP says Lashley won’t be taking Drew out tonight or putting the submission on him, they’re saving that for Backlash. MVP asks Drew to remember the last time he had him on the show. MVP recalls how he tried to be a friend to Drew and Drew repaid him with a Claymore. They go on until Lashley is introduced as his music hits.

Drew suddenly drops MVP with a Claymore as Lashley approaches the ring. Lashley pulls MVP out to safety as Drew yells at him to enter the ring and fight. Drew begs Lashley to come in and fight. Lashley helps MVP up the ramp and to the back as Drew raises the WWE Title in the air while his music hits.

Charly catches up with Drew McIntyre backstage now. Drew says he was on his way out of the building. He didn’t plan to Claymore MVP earlier but MVP asked for it. Kayla asks Drew if he knew about tonight’s tag team match with MVP and Lashley vs. The Street Profits. Drew suddenly forgets something in the locker room and says he probably won’t find it until that tag match is over. Back to commercial.

The Street Profits win via DQ

After the bell, the music immediately hits and out comes WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. Drew hits the ring as Lashley tells him to bring it. Drew with a Glasgow Kiss headbutt. They brawl and then tumble to the floor. Lashley beats Drew against the barrier. Drew fights back and brings it back into the ring. Drew mounts Lashley with big strikes. The referee calls for help to come break things up. He instructs some of the male developmental talents to come from the crowd into the ring. They hit the ring and Drew drops them with headbutts and strikes. Lashley takes advantage and drops Drew with a big Spear. The referee calls for more trainees to come in the ring to break things up. Drew and Lashley are separated but they fight back and take the trainees out. More trainees hit the ring and finally have Lashley and Drew kept apart in opposite corners. RAW goes off the air with Lashley and McIntyre yelling at each other from opposite corners.

Charly is backstage with King Corbin now. She asks if he has any doubts about tonight’s match with Drew McIntyre. Corbin says Drew may be WWE Champion but he’s not king. We see Drew watching the interview as Corbin goes on taking shots. Corbin says he’s going to take advantage of every mistake Drew makes tonight, then beat him. Corbin says the next time he steps in the ring with Drew after tonight will be the main event of WrestleMania, and he will take the WWE Title.

Charly is backstage with Drew McIntyre now. Drew is having fun and having a good time. He says the Brand-To-Brand Invitational is great and makes way for dream matches in WWE. Drew goes on and calls King Corbin a terrible human, but admits he does terrible things in the ring, and is dangerous. Drew says Corbin does what it takes to win, but he’s got a special Claymore with Corbin’s name on it, one fit for a king. Drew walks off.

We go to the ring for tonight’s non-title main event as WWE Champion Drew McIntyre makes his way out. Back to commercial.

Back from the break and we’re back to the axe-throwing contest at the reenactment. The fake cops have all four Superstars lined up, asking if they know how dangerous it is to throw axes as someone could get hurt. The one female cop is going to let them go this one time because Ivar is cute, but Erik not so much. Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins joke around with them to end the segment. We go back to the ring and out comes King Baron Corbin, representing SmackDown in this Brand-To-Brand Invitational match.

The bell is about to ring but the music interrupts and out comes Bobby Lashley with MVP to the stage. MVP says he and Lashley have taken a personal interest in this match. MVP praises Corbin and McIntyre, then hands the mic to Lashley. Lashley puts Drew on notice and says he’s coming for Drew and the WWE Title, and if he needs to pry it from his cold dead hands, that’s exactly what he will do. MVP tells them to make it good because they will be watching. We go back to commercial.

Back from the break and Drew locks up with Corbin. MVP and Lashley watch from the stage. Drew takes it to the corner and backs off as the referee warns him. They shove each other. They lock up again and Corbin drives a knee into the gut. Drew ends up ducking a clothesline and nailing a chop. Corbin turns it back around and unloads with body strikes in the corner. Corbin hits the ropes and drops Drew with a shoulder. Corbin talks some trash as they run the ropes. Drew drops Corbin with a shoulder. Drew keeps fighting and knocks Corbin to the floor. Drew follows and clotheslines Corbin over the barrier.

The referee counts as MVP applauds Drew. Drew clotheslines Corbin back over the barrier to the ringside area. Drew rocks Corbin again and rolls him back in the ring. Drew readies for a Claymore kick but Corbin rolls to the floor. Corbin turns it around and knocks Drew from the apron to the barrier with a shoulder. Drew is down on the floor now. Corbin follows and launches Drew face-first into the ring post as MVP taunts from the stage.

Drew comes back in but Corbin works him over some more. Corbin takes it to the corner and continues to manhandle Drew. Drew fights back with big chops. Corbin charges, runs out and runs right back in with a big clothesline for a 1 count. Drew fights back with chops now. Corbin is still fighting. Drew gets sent to apron, then hung up on the top rope. The referee warns Corbin as he rocks Drew on the apron again. Corbin has Drew up top now. Drew fights back. Corbin climbs up for a superplex and he nails it. Corbin rolls over for the count but Drew kicks out at 1.

Drew gets upset and starts making a comeback. Corbin gets launched overhead. Drew goes to the top and comes flying down with an axe handle. Drew kips up and yells at Corbin while he’s down. Drew puts Corbin on his shoulders but he slides down. Drew catches Corbin with a big Spinebuster for another close 2 count.

Drew talks trash to Corbin while he’s down, telling him to get his ass up and prove himself. Corbin blocks the Futureshock DDT and rams Drew into the corners. Corbin with a big sideslam but Drew still kicks out at 1. Corbin can’t believe it. Corbin and McIntyre trade big strikes as MVP and Lashley look on from the stage. Drew catches Corbin and drops him with the DDT. Drew waits in the corner as Corbin slowly recovers. Corbin side-steps the Claymore and drops Drew with Deep Six. Drew kicks out just in time.

Corbin barks back at MVP’s distraction. Drew ducks End of Days and nails a Glasgow Kiss headbutt. Corbin runs out and right back in but Drew catches him with a big Claymore kick for the pin to win.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

After the match, Drew looks on and raises the WWE Title as the music hits. We go to replays. Drew looks up at MVP and Lashley, ranting about how he wants to fight Lashley and how the WWE Universe has been waiting for him to step up. MVP and Lashley look back at the ring as Drew raises the WWE Title in the air. RAW goes off the air.
