 Drew McIntyre

While many fellow 15-year-olds were worried about sitting at the “popular table” at lunchtime, Drew McIntyre was already training to become a WWE Superstar. He didn’t have to wait terribly long to achieve his dream, either, as the endlessly athletic Scotsman skyrocketed from the U.K. independent scene to the big show, WWE, at just age 22. The outlook was so bright for the 6-foot-5 McIntyre that when he first arrived, Mr. McMahon labeled him a “future World Champion.” The Chairman was eventually proven correct, though fulfilling that prophecy did not come easily for McIntyre.

NXT Champion Bobby Roode vs. Drew McIntyre
Published by: |   (0) Comments      Read MORE      Filed Under: WWE, WWE.Com Article

The undefeated Drew McIntyre has decimated every opponent thrown his way, and at TakeOver: Brooklyn III, the Scottish Superstar will finally get what he’s been in search of: The opportunity to challenge NXT Champion Bobby Roode.

McIntyre has maintained a laser focus on NXT’s top prize since he signed with the brand in April. He earned the title match the old-fashion way, piling up one win after another. With a smash-mouth style, he conquered the likes of Oney Lorcan, Andrade Almas and Killian Dain. McIntyre’s win over The Beast of Belfast secured an opportunity to face Roode as well as snapped Dain’s own undefeated streak.

With such an impressive resume, McIntyre might rightly be considered Roode’s most dangerous challenger to date. However, don’t expect The Glorious One to be intimidated. The resourceful and calculating veteran champion has consistently found ways to keep hold of the NXT Title against the stiffest competition. McIntyre says it’s no longer “Bobby Roode’s NXT,” but Roode will stop at nothing to prove otherwise.

Will Drew McIntyre complete his mission in Brooklyn, or will The Glorious One continue his era atop NXT? Don’t miss this summer’s biggest NXT Championship Match when TakeOver: Brooklyn III streams live on the award-winning WWE Network on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 8 ET/5 PT.

Former WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre has returned with his eye locked firmly on the NXT Championship.

In the midst of NXT TakeOver: Orlando, rumors instantly began to circulate when the “Sinister Scotsman” was spotted watching the live WWE Network event very closely from his seat in the capacity crowd.

But speculation instantly dissipated when McIntyre revealed to ESPN that he has signed as NXT’s newest Superstar.

This huge news immediately conjures thoughts of dream showdowns between the hard-hitting McIntyre and the NXT roster’s elite. And judging by the reaction of the NXT Universe when he was shown donning a sly smile in attendance, fans were certainly excited by the prospect of him stepping through the yellow ropes very soon.
