 Drew McIntyre

While many fellow 15-year-olds were worried about sitting at the “popular table” at lunchtime, Drew McIntyre was already training to become a WWE Superstar. He didn’t have to wait terribly long to achieve his dream, either, as the endlessly athletic Scotsman skyrocketed from the U.K. independent scene to the big show, WWE, at just age 22. The outlook was so bright for the 6-foot-5 McIntyre that when he first arrived, Mr. McMahon labeled him a “future World Champion.” The Chairman was eventually proven correct, though fulfilling that prophecy did not come easily for McIntyre.

SmackDown kicks off with the wrestlers involved in the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match all sitting on top of ladders inside of the ring, except for Omos who stands down on the mat. Rollins welcomes the Phoenix, Arizona crowd to SmackDown. Rollins alludes to the upcoming match, where he says that whoever wins should cash in at SummerSlam when Lesnar and Reigns compete in a Last Man Standing match. Riddle interrupts Rollins to insult Roman Reigns as Sami Zayn gets defensive and says that he is in the match to win it for the Bloodline to ensure that Reigns’ championship will be safe. MVP speaks on behalf of Omos to remind everyone that Omos is the odd-on favorite. Sheamus then says that he has already won and cashed in on Roman Reigns. McIntyre then brings up how he’s beaten Lesnar before.

The men in the ring are then interrupted by The Miz who comes out to the ring. Miz reminds McIntyre that he cashed in on Drew McIntyre. Elias’ brother Ezekiel then makes his way out to make his case to be in the ladder match, and then Happy Corbin comes out to do the same, and then Madcap Moss comes out and makes a joke about Corbin embarrassing himself by cashing in again. Everyone out there begins to argue incoherently before Adam Pearce comes out to announce a battle royal with every wrestler out there.

Battle Royal

The newly-announced battle royal match begins with several wrestlers going after Omos in the middle of the ring. McIntyre throws Miz over the top but Miz rakes the eyes to avoid elimination as he hangs on the apron. Omos throws Ezekiel over the top rope to eliminate him from the match. Madcap Moss then goes after Omos and Omos eliminates Moss and The Miz tries to sneak up from behind and Omos eliminates the Miz too. Omos and McIntyre lock up in the middle of the ring. McIntyre gets a brief advantage before Omos knocks McIntyre down to the mat with a headbutt. Omos stares down Seth Rollins, Rollins looks up at the briefcase, laughs and then hops over the top rope to eliminate himself. Riddle, McIntyre and Sheamus all team up to eliminate Omos from the match.

The battle royal continues live with Riddle avoiding elimination on the ring apron. McIntyre and Sheamus get involved in an impromptu who can hurt Sami Zayn the most competition where the two take turns attacking Zayn. Riddle runs up behind to hit Sheamus with the bro to sleep. Riddle hits Sheamus with the power slam and then the Orton-style DDT. Sheamus avoids the RKO to shove Riddle over the top rope, and Sheamus hits a running knee to eliminate Riddle from the match. Zayn tries a Helluva kick but McIntyre dodges causing Corbin to be hit with the move. Sheamus goes for a Brogue kick but McIntyre hits a Glasgow kiss. McIntyre hits Zayn with a claymore and then eliminates him over the top. McIntyre goes to eliminate Sheamus but Corbin sneaks up to eliminate both McIntyre and Sheamus to win the match.

Winner: Happy Corbin

We go back to to the ring and out comes Drew McIntyre with his sword, Angela. We see how Happy Baron Corbin and Madcap Moss injured him at WWE Day 1, and then how he returned at the Royal Rumble on Saturday. Cole says he returned months early. Drew talks about some of the headlines about how he was going to be out a long time, or wouldn’t be back at all. Drew says a doctor told him the day after Day 1 that he definitely wouldn’t make The Rumble, and probably not WrestleMania, and Drew looked the doc in the eye and told him to kiss his ass. Drew immediately began rehab, three times a day, and and got back as soon as he could. He says The Rumble didn’t go as planned, but he and Brock Lesnar are now 1-1 and will re-visit that later, but Moss and Corbin… the music interrupts and out comes Corbin with a mic.

Corbin asks McIntyre if it was all worth it, to come back and risk his whole career and be thrown out like a bag of garbage by Lesnar in The Rumble. Corbin says Drew failed and won’t be going to WrestleMania, and the thought of that makes Corbin very happy. Drew senses Moss sneaking up behind him in the ring. Drew stops him by pointing the sword at him, and demands Moss tell a joke. He says if Corbin tries to interrupt, he will draw blood with the sword. A nervous Moss tells a joke about Oklahoma but Drew wants to hear a Drew McIntyre joke.

Moss tells the joke about the WrestleMania main event being “Scot-free” and the crowd boos, while Corbin laughs. Drew acts like he’s laughing now, and Moss starts laughing as well. Drew levels Moss with a big Claymore. Drew points out at Corbin and says he will make his life a living hell every week, and this was just the beginning. Corbin looks on and talks some trash as Drew looks on with his music playing.

The New Day looks forward to getting the titles back at WWE Day 1, but first they all will beat Moss and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos tonight. Drew is a bit sad because he might beat Moss so bad he can’t make it to Day 1. They end the segment with lots of ridiculous laughing.

Moss charges but Drew rocks him and fights him off. Moss decks Drew and then unloads on him in the corner. Drew comes out of the opposite corner with a clothesline. Drew uses Moss’ suspenders against him and they tangle. Drew drops Moss with a big DDT as The Usos make the save. The New Day attacks The Usos and the two teams brawl tot he floor.

Moss unloads on Drew but Drew scoops Moss on his shoulders. Corbin hits the ring with a candy cane kendo stick and unloads on Drew with it, beating him down. We see The Usos and The New Day fighting on the stage. Jimmy tosses Kofi into a bunch of presents and Christmas trees, then Jey does the same to Woods. We go to commercial.

Moss beats Drew around now, talking trash in his face and slapping him. Moss charges but Drew explodes at him with a big clothesline. Drew with another clothesline and overhead throw, then another throw. Drew tosses Moss again and kips up for a pop. Drew waits for Moss to get back up as fans count along. Corbin grabs Drew’s foot from the floor and fans boo.

Drew chases Corbin around the ring but Kofi meets Corbin with a candy cane kendo stick at ringside. Drew has him trapped on the other side. Kofi comes from behind as Corbin yells at Drew. Kofi pours a jug of eggnog all over Corbin. Corbin seethes and Moss joins him. They stare Kofi down, yelling at him to bring it. Drew takes advantage of the distraction and comes from behind, then covers them both in eggnog. Drew brings Moss back into the ring to level him with a Claymore Kick for the pin to win.

Winners: Drew McIntyre and The New Day

After the match, McIntyre stands tall as his music hits. We go to commercial. Drew and The New Day bring a Christmas tree into the ring, then they start tossing WE merchandise into the crowd. Woods takes some action figures and t-shirts to ringside and stands on top of the barrier, tossing the items to the floor. McIntyre tosses various items into the crowd from ringside now. Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss come to the ring where the desk with the sword is sitting. Corbin says the desk is an expensive piece of furniture that doubles as a hat rack and Moss puts his hat on the sword. Moss then tells some of his terrible jokes and the fans start chanting “CM Punk”. Corbin says he loves his razor-sharp wit and so he gifts the sword to Moss.

Madcap tries to pull the sword out of the desk but he can’t. Corbin then tries and he can’t either. Drew McIntyre finally comes out and makes his way to the ring where the unfunny duo are still struggling with the sword. Drew asks if they’re gaving performance issues, then attacks them both. McIntyre walks over to the desk and removes the sword with ease. Moss and Corbin flee as Corbin poses with Angela.
