 Drew McIntyre

While many fellow 15-year-olds were worried about sitting at the “popular table” at lunchtime, Drew McIntyre was already training to become a WWE Superstar. He didn’t have to wait terribly long to achieve his dream, either, as the endlessly athletic Scotsman skyrocketed from the U.K. independent scene to the big show, WWE, at just age 22. The outlook was so bright for the 6-foot-5 McIntyre that when he first arrived, Mr. McMahon labeled him a “future World Champion.” The Chairman was eventually proven correct, though fulfilling that prophecy did not come easily for McIntyre.

We go right to the ring and out comes WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, returning from his positive COVID-19 diagnosis. Drew hits the ring as the pyro goes off.

Drew takes the mic and says it feels so good to be back on RAW. He thanks everyone for their well wishes while he was out with COVID-19. He talks about getting lucky with no symptoms and says he’s back at 100%. His match on Sunday is dedicated to everyone who has the coronavirus. Drew says we’re all going to get through this and beat it. Drew says speaking of things he’s tired of, Sunday’s match will be against WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg. Drew talks about watching Goldberg since he was a teenager, how he built up his impressive streak, ran through The Rock and other Superstars until he just disappeared, for years. Drew says the last thing to go in a heavyweight fighter is their power, and Goldberg returned a tough fighter like he had been. Drew talks about how Goldberg has continued to win and win, but that ends this Sunday as Drew will end the other streak and remain WWE Champion. Drew goes on but the music interrupts and out comes The Miz and John Morrison as fans boo.

Miz and Morrison taunt Drew over the match and speculate that he or Goldberg may end up injured before the end of the match. Then what could happen? Miz says whoever is left standing at the end of the match will be a sitting duck as he and Morrison will hit the ring and beat the holy hell out of the champion. Fans boo them as they enter the ring. Miz says then he will cash in his Money In the Bank briefcase and be announced the new WWE Champion. The music interrupts again and out comes Goldberg as Drew looks on. Miz and Morrison watch from the apron.

Goldberg hits the ring and gets in Drew’s face, telling him he’s next on Sunday. They drop the mics and stare each other down as Miz and Morrison run their mouths from the apron. Drew suddenly yanks Miz in while Goldberg yanks Morrison into the ring for a big pop. Goldberg drops Miz with a Spear and Drew then levels Morrison with a Claymore. Drew and Goldberg go back to facing off in the middle of the ring for a pop. Drew raises the WWE Title in the air as they have words. Goldberg’s music starts up as we go to replays. Goldberg marches up the ramp as Drew watches him, stopping to toss the Money In the Bank briefcase out of the ring.

We get a pre-recorded message from WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, who is in his home gym.
Drew says he wishes he could be at RAW but the good news is, he’s feeling stronger after recently testing positive for COVID-19. He mentions that the earlier segment with Gillberg and the Fake McIntyre was a circus. He also has a quick threat for The Miz and John Morrison. Drew mentions that he respects WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg but that respect doesn’t outweigh what he’s willing to do to keep his title. He goes on about Goldberg and their Royal Rumble match, and says he needs Goldberg to bring the intense Goldberg to the pay-per-view because the title deserves it and if he doesn’t, Drew will eat him alive in two minutes. Drew also mentions that if Goldberg needs some action before then, he’s coming back to RAW next Monday.

Back from the break and we see how WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg challenged WWE Champion Drew McIntyre for a Royal Rumble title shot last week. We get a pre-recorded message from McIntyre now, who is in quarantine due to his COVID-19 diagnosis. Drew says Goldberg rudely interrupted him last week before he got the chance to thank the Legends for watching him. McIntyre goes on and says he wants to like and respect Goldberg but he let Drew down, and let his own legacy down. Drew says Goldberg knows nothing about being WWE Champion as it’s the most lucrative title and has alluded him for his entire career. Drew goes on and says Goldberg challenging him is like challenging himself in his prime. Drew says Goldberg then put his hands on him, and needs a lesson in respect. Drew accepts the challenge and says at the Royal Rumble, Goldberg is next.

We go to the ring and out comes WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. We see how he got hit by Randy Orton’s RKO last week on RAW.

Drew takes the mic and says Orton has been preying on vulnerability for 20 years. He mentions last week’s attack and thanks Orton for the lesson learned. Drew says it will never happen again. Drew says he knows that motivated Orton last week. He knows Orton is just s motivated to take the WWE Title as he is to keep it.

Drew goes on and mentions how Vince McMahon once told them both that they would be the future of WWE. Drew says Orton had everything handed to him and spoon fed to him because of his dad. He also mentions Evolution and how they always cleaned up for Orton and his mistakes. Drew admits to his own mistakes and says he deserves to get fired years ago. He says Orton left enough of his own crap behind him and should’ve been fired long before Drew was, which sounds like a reference to Orton defecating in people’s bags. Drew keeps on until the music interrupts and out comes Orton with WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair.

Orton interrupts Drew and admits he should’ve been fired multiple times. Orton says he was given chances over and over because he is the chosen one and the best ever. Orton challenges Drew to come up with something original against him. Drew lays the title down in the middle of the ring. Drew says he thinks Orton represents everything wrong in WWE. Drew recalls how The Undertaker talked about pulling Orton to his level in The Last Ride documentary. Drew says Orton has never done the same to an up & coming wrestler in WWE, he’s never passed on the knowledge that legends passed on to Orton. Drew recalls Orton walking past him in catering years ago. Drew’s life was crumbling, professionally and personally. His mother was sick and he was far from home. Orton could’ve said something and it would’ve went a long way but he didn’t. Drew doesn’t see a leader in front of him, he sees a selfish prick. Orton is still looking on from the stage with Flair. Drew now goes on about how he’s going to have receipts from current and some former roster members at SummerSlam, and he’s going to destroy Orton, for everyone Orton has kicked in the head over the years and done wrong. Drew’s music hits as they stare each other down.
