Since returning to WWE, Drew McIntyre hasn’t exactly been shy about voicing his opinion, whether it’s expressing his desire to challenge for the NXT Championship or his intention to help NXT grow as a brand.
That outspokenness even extends to talking about what he doesn’t like about NXT.
During a recent Facebook Live interview with Kayla Braxton, the Scottish Superstar — who was in Riverside, Calif., for his first NXT Live tour since making his WWE return last month — revealed what he would like to change about the black-and-yellow brand.
“The way I see it, I need people to stop thinking of it as ‘moving up,’” McIntyre said of instances when a Superstar moves from NXT to Raw or SmackDown LIVE. “That’s the only thing I see with the roster and perhaps the fans is the perception that moving a brand is moving up. I don’t see it that way. These people are so, so talented.”
The Scottish Superstar touched on a number of other topics beyond making NXT an equal to Raw and SmackDown LIVE, from naming NXT’s hardest hitters (Oney Lorcan, Aleister Black and Roderick Strong all received shout-outs) to speaking about the reception he’s received since signing with NXT.
You can watch the entire interview below, and keep an eye peeled for future Facebook Live interviews on NXT’s official Facebook page.
Cien does his usual start of match lounging as he evades a grapple from McIntyre. This is followed by McIntyre throwing Cien into the ropes where Cien, again, lies on the middle rope, relaxing. So, McIntyre kicks Cien directly to the floor below. He continues bringing the chops and punches until he’s walking up the ring steps and Cien trips him.
As they re-enter the ring, it’s Cien delivering the slaps. McIntyre tries to counter but Cien is able to force him to the mat for a quick 1 count. He stomps on McIntyre in the corner, backs off, runs at him, stops, yells and slaps McIntyre in the face. Insulting.
McIntyre slowly rises to his feet andhe means business. He throws Cien into the opposite corner and unloads a barrage of punches. Off the top rope…clothesline! He lifts Cien on to his shoulders. Cien wiggles free. The two trade chops to the chest. McIntyre gets a few more in. Off the ropes, powerslam by McIntyre.
He tunes up in the corner and rushes Cien with a running knee smash to the face. 1-2-3.
