While many fellow 15-year-olds were worried about sitting at the “popular table” at lunchtime, Drew McIntyre was already training to become a WWE Superstar. He didn’t have to wait terribly long to achieve his dream, either, as the endlessly athletic Scotsman skyrocketed from the U.K. independent scene to the big show, WWE, at just age 22. The outlook was so bright for the 6-foot-5 McIntyre that when he first arrived, Mr. McMahon labeled him a “future World Champion.” The Chairman was eventually proven correct, though fulfilling that prophecy did not come easily for McIntyre.

Back from the break and MVP is in the ring with the setup for The VIP Lounge. Some fans chant his name. He gives an intro and says he gave back because he had an itch to scratch, and he’s still ballin’ like Roddy Ricch. MVP goes on and introduces his guest for tonight. Outcomes Drew McIntyre for a pop.

Drew marches down the ramp and he’s stopped by two guys at the bottom of the ramp, who aren’t sure about letting him through MVP’s red ropes. They want to check his name on the guest list but he powers past them and hits the ring. MVP gives Drew some props for doing things his own way and they mention the WrestleMania 36 match with WWE Champion Brock Lesnar. Drew jokes about pointing to the sign and he does for a pop. MVP wants Drew to keep his eye on the prize and ignore what the non-VIP people are saying behind his back. MVP goes on about how some people think Drew isn’t ready to be champion. Not MVP, but some people. MVP goes on and there’s some tension brewing. MVP wants to be Drew’s business manager, to help guide him. Drew says that’s the catch.

Drew says maybe MVP could be his Paul Heyman. MVP agrees but he would be a much better-looking version. Drew says the difference between he and Lesnar is that he doesn’t need an external brain thinking for him, someone talking for him, or a business partner kissing his ass like MVP is doing. MVP says Drew knows better, he’s never been an ass kisser, but he is an ass-kicker. They face off for a second. Drew goes to leave but MVP grabs his arm and tells him not to turn his back because he needs MVP.

Drew drops MVP with a Glasgow Kiss headbutt. Drew gets hyped up and takes his shirt and jacket off as fans pop. He counts down from 3 and drops MVP with a Claymore kick when he gets up. Drew mocks the “Ballin’” gesture for a laugh from the crowd. Drew poses in the corner and points up at the WrestleMania sign as his music hits. We go to replays. Drew marches out of the ring and stops to intimidate the guys controlling access to The VIP Lounge. Drew poses on the stage and yells out one more time to end the segment.

Mojo Rawley vs. Drew McIntyre

We go to the ring and WWE 24/7 Champion Mojo Rawley is waiting with is Riddick Moss. Tom says Mojo’s title will not be on the line in this match. Out next comes Drew McIntyre.

Drew takes the mic as fans chant for him. He thanks Salt Lake City for making it through the blizzard to be here tonight. Drew says he will be with Mojo in just a minute, but warns him that he will Claymore his head off just 3 seconds after putting the mic down. Drew addresses his WrestleMania 36 opponent, WWE Champion Brock Lesnar, and how Brock attacked him from behind last week. Drew says Brock is a coward and is apprehensive of the Sexy Scotsman. Drew says Brock knows he’s just as big and just as fast, and he’s got a secret weapon – the Claymore. Fans chant “Drew!” now. Drew points up at the WrestleMania 36 sign and says he will finally be WWE Champion after kicking Lesnar’s oversized head off his body.

Drew jokes that he forgot Mojo was there but like he said – 3 seconds. The bell rings and Mojo charges. Drew immediately nails a Claymore for the pin to win.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

– After the match, Drew’s music hits as he marches out. We go to replays.

We go to the ring and out comes the winner of the Men’s Royal Rumble Match, Drew McIntyre. He’s announced as the man who will main event WrestleMania 35. Drew hits the ring and points up at the WrestleMania 36 sign.

Drew needs someone to pinch him because it feels like he’s dreaming. He goes on about the Rumble win and how he’s going to WrestleMania 36. Drew doesn’t want to wait, he’s ready to challenge someone now. He challenges WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and fans pop. Drew goes on and says he’s ready to hand out Claymores tonight. He issues a challenge and out come Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. They both want to face Drew and Drew agrees.

2-on-1 Handicap Match: Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson vs. Drew McIntytre

Drew McIntyre starts off with Karl Anderson after the bell. Drew gets the upperhand and in comes Luke Gallows. Drew with offense in the corner. Gallows with a shot to the throat. McIntyre avoids the double team Magic Killer. Drew with a Glasgow Kiss to Gallows, then a powerslam to Anderson.

Drew goes tot he top and takes Anderson out. He tangles with Anderson again and hits a Futureshock DDT for a pop. Drew counts down from 3 with the fans, then drops Anderson with a Claymore. He does the same and levels Gallows with another Claymore. Drew easily covers both members of The OC for the pin to win.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

After the match, Drew stands tall as his music hits. Drew poses and the crowd pops. Drew celebrates but turns around to WWE Champion Brock Lesnar. Lesnar lays out Drew with the F5 and then raises the title in the air. Lesnar makes his exit with Paul Heyman as Drew tries to recover on the mat. We go to commercial.

Royal Rumble 2020 Results

Drew McIntyre is out next at #16. Lesnar locks eyes with Drew as he marches to the ring. Drew enters and they face off, talking trash. Lesnar takes his gloves off as they get ready to brawl. Ricochet comes from behind with a low low to Lesnar. Drew nails a Claymore Kick to eliminate Lesnar as the crowd goes wild. Heyman is shocked as we get a replay.

Ricochet and Drew go at it. Drew catches a move and launches Ricochet over the top rope for the elimination. Lesnar is still down on the floor with Heyman next to time. Drew looks out at him and they stare at each other. The Miz is out next at #17. Miz tries to come from behind but Drew drops him and kips up. Drew keeps staring at Lesnar and giving him his attention. Drew delivers a Claymore to Miz and then eliminates him. Drew goes back to staring Lesnar down as he waits for the next entrant. Fans sing “Goodbye!” to Lesnar as he and Heyman look to make their exit. Lesnar actually stops near the timekeeper’s area and leans against the barrier. The next man out is AJ Styles at #18. AJ enters the ring and goes at it with Drew. AJ gets sent to the apron but he fights from it. He springboards in and they go at it again. Drew lifts AJ and fights off a Calf Crusher attempt. Dolph Ziggler is out at #19.

Ziggler gets in Drew’s face, allowing AJ to drop Drew with a shot to the knee from behind. Ziggler also drops AJ after going at it with Drew. Drew launches Ziggler across the ring. Drew levels Ziggler in the corner now. Drew chops AJ down in another corner. Karl Anderson is out at #20. Anderson stops Drew from dumping AJ to the floor, just in time. Anderson unloads on Drew. Drew goes to drop AJ and Anderson at the same time but Ziggler superkicks Drew down. Drew gets triple-teamed now but AJ stops to hit Ziggler. Anderson with a big Spinebuster to Ziggler. Anderson works on Ziggler while AJ works on Drew. WWE Hall of Famer Edge is out next at #21. The stadium erupts and the pyro goes off as Edge makes his way to the ring.

Edge hits the ring and delivers a bunch of Spears. Edge stands tall for a pop. AJ and Edge meet in the middle and then go at it. AJ with a pele kick. Edge drops AJ with a Spear for a big pop. King Baron Corbin is out next at #22. Corbin and Ziggler double team Edge in the corner now. McIntyre works on dumping Ziggler. AJ and Anderson work on Edge. Edge eliminates AJ. Edge waits in the corner and watches the others go at it. The timer counts down and the #23 spot goes to Matt Riddle of NXT. Riddle hits the ring and unloads with kicks to several Superstars. Riddle delivers a bunch of kicks to Drew in the corner, then drops him with one. Edge goes for Riddle but Riddle levels Edge with a big jumping knee to the head. Corbin eliminates Riddle to boos. Corbin taunts Riddle as Luke Gallows comes out at #24.

Corbin drops Edge with a Deep Six. Drew eliminates Corbin and The King is shocked. Gallows and Anderson double team Drew now. The OC hits a Magic Killer on Edge. Randy Orton is out next at #25 for a big pop. Orton heads to the ring as The OC stomps on Edge. Orton with a big RKO on Gallows, then Anderson. Edge and Orton stare at each other as fans pop. Rated RKO reunites t eliminate The OC. They have friendly words and Orton works on Ziggler while Edge works on Drew in the corners. Roman Reigns is out at #26 now. Reigns comes in and sends Ziggler out, eliminating him. Roman rocks Drew into the corner. Kevin Owens is out next at #27 for a pop.

Owens hits the ring and beats Drew into a corner, then clotheslines Orton. Owens with a corner cannonball to Reigns, then a cannonball to Edge. Owens with a Pop-Up Powerbomb to Drew, then a kick to Reigns. Reigns blocks the powerbomb but Owens hits him with a Stunner. Owens blocks the RKO and hits a Stunner to Orton. Owens works on eliminating Edge now. The #28 entrant is Aleister Black. Black and Owens unload on each other now. Black misses a moonsault but levels Owens with a big kick to the face Black fights Edge off and drops him with a big knee. Drew with a Glasgow Kiss headbutt to Black Drew runs into Black Mass from Aleister. Black is the only one standing now.

Samoa Joe runs down at #29 and unloads, taking Black down. Reigns works on Orton in the corner. Edge goes for Owens. Joe drops Black with a big kick to the head. Drew works on dumping Orton now. Owens with a corner cannonball to Black. Reigns drops Drew. Joe and Owens meet in the middle of the ring and then start brawling with each other. Joe with the inverted atomic drop and the big boot to drop Owens. The #30 spot goes to RAW Tag Team Champion Seth Rollins, who comes out with partner Buddy Murphy and The Authors of Pain – Akam and Rezar.

Joe and Owens go to the floor to brawl but get beat down by Rollins and his crew. They also bring Edge and Orton under the ropes and take them down on the floor. Rollins delivers Stomps to Drew and Reigns in the ring. Black fights Rollins off. Orton is laid out on the other side of the announcers and Graves says he looks hurt. We hear a crew member check on the announcers. Owens stuns Rollins and tosses him out but AOP catch him. Rollins is out back in and then eliminates Owens thanks to help from AOP. Joe with the Coquina Clutch on Rollins but Murphy interferes. Rollins eliminates Joe. Joe attacks Murphy on the floor and another big brawl breaks out at ringside. Rollins looks out from the turnbuckles as his partners leave while brawling with the others who have been eliminated. Edge and Orton stare down Rollins, as do Reigns and Drew. Rollins is in trouble.

Rollins tries to talk Reigns into being on his side. Reigns responds with a Superman Punch. Edge sends Rollins into a powerslam from Orton. Drew with a Claymore to Rollins. Drew eliminates Rollins. The match is down to Edge, Reigns, McIntyre and Orton now.

Edge and Orton strategize, then attack the other two. Fans chant “this is awesome!” as Orton unloads on Drew. Drew gets dropped with the RKO. Edge and Orton regroup over Drew and then drop him with a double RKO. Orton stalks Edge from behind but Edge senses his former partner. They go to attack Reigns but Edge turns and eliminates Orton. Edge yells out at Orton and Orton is frustrated. The crowd pops as Edge and Reigns face off. They unload on each other with strikes. Edge goes down with a Superman Punch and fans boo loudly. Edge jumps over Reigns’ Spear and nails his own Spear for a big pop. Edge ends Reigns to the apron but he hangs on. Edge misses a Spear. Reigns kicks him. Reigns tries to pull Edge over the top but he hangs on. They trade big strikes on the apron now. Reigns uppercuts Edge and eliminates him.

Fans boo Edge’s elimination. Reigns and Drew go at it now as fans cheer them on. Drew ends up flooring Reigns with a big Claymore Kick out of nowhere. Fans pop as Drew immediately follows up and eliminates Reigns.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

After the match, fans go wild and give McIntyre a standing ovation as his music hits. We go to replays. McIntyre stands tall and points up at the exploding pyro as he’s headed to WrestleMania 36. The 2020 Royal Rumble pay-per-view goes off the air with McIntyre celebrating as the crowd cheers him on.

Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre

We go to the ring and out comes Randy Orton for the next match. Back to commercial.

Back from the break and out comes Drew McIntyre as Orton waits. The bell rings and they lock up, going into the corner. Drew backs off after the referee tries to get in between them. They lock up again and Orton applies a headlock. Drew resists and turns it around. They hit the ropes and Drew drops Orton with a shoulder. Drew mocks Orton and poses as Orton regroups on the outside.

Orton walks up the steps and back into the ring. They lock up again and Drew takes Orton down with another headlock. Fans chant for Orton and he drops Drew with a big shoulder. Drew shows some frustration now. Orton looks on from the corner and talks some trash as they meet in the middle of the ring. Drew rams Orton back into the corner and unloads on him. Drew with a big chop to the chest to stun Orton. Drew whips Orton across the ring but Orton comes out of the corner with a clothesline. Orton clotheslines Drew over the top rope and follows. Orton slams Drew top of the barrier twice. Orton stalks Drew and goes for another barrier shot but Drew counters and sends Orton face-first into the ring post.

Drew breaks the count and comes over for a big Claymore Kick to Orton but he also drops a crew member with the kick, barely hitting Orton. Orton stumbles around the ring and Drew stalks him. We go to commercial as crew members run over to check on the guy who took the Claymore.

Back from the break and Drew waits up top as Orton recovers in the ring. Drew leaps but Orton dropkicks him in mid-air. Orton mounts offense now. Drew kicks him and they unload on each other in the middle of the ring. Orton ends up nailing the second rope draping DDT for a pop. Drew comes back with a big overhead toss and a 2 count in the middle of the ring. Drew with a suplex in the middle of the ring. Drew kips up and waits in the corner for Orton.

Orton counters and catches Drew with a big powerslam for a 2 count. Orton takes it to the top and hits a big superplex. Orton rolls to the floor. The OC’s AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson run down and hit the ring, attacking Drew for a beatdown in the middle of the ring. Orton rushes back in with a steel chair as Drew also makes his comeback. Orton and Drew stand tall as The OC retreats to the ramp. Orton’s music hits but stops as he and Drew face off now. Orton drops the chair and walks over to Drew, getting in his face. They have some words and Orton turns his back on Drew. Drew turns back to Orton but Orton drops him in the middle of the ring with the RKO for a pop. Orton hits the corner to pose for the fans as they cheer him on. Orton’s music starts back up as he makes his exit while the referee checks on Drew.

Drew takes the mic and calls Orton back. Randall Keith Orton. Orton stops but Drew tosses the mic, demanding one that works. But that mic did work. Drew says he should’ve hit Orton with a Claymore. Drew says that one was on him, but it won’t happen again and they are not even. Drew says he prays to God that he and Orton end up in the ring together this Sunday at The Rumble because the Claymore will come outta nowhere. Drew says he’s going to kick Orton’s head off his shoulders, win the Rumble and finally, after all this time, he’s going to main event WrestleMania. Drew tosses the mic as Orton’s music starts back up.
