While many fellow 15-year-olds were worried about sitting at the “popular table” at lunchtime, Drew McIntyre was already training to become a WWE Superstar. He didn’t have to wait terribly long to achieve his dream, either, as the endlessly athletic Scotsman skyrocketed from the U.K. independent scene to the big show, WWE, at just age 22. The outlook was so bright for the 6-foot-5 McIntyre that when he first arrived, Mr. McMahon labeled him a “future World Champion.” The Chairman was eventually proven correct, though fulfilling that prophecy did not come easily for McIntyre.

Charly is backstage with Drew McIntyre, asking if he’s concerned about Bobby Lashley when it comes to facing MVP tonight. Drew loves challenges and if MVP wants to get back in the ring to take another Claymore, that’s fine with him. Lashley can have another one too. Drew goes on about lining everyone who wants one up and giving them a one-way ticket to Claymore Country. He walks off.

Drew McIntyre vs. MVP

Back from the break and out first comes Bobby Lashley. MVP is out next for tonight’s non-title main event. MVP greets Lashley as he enters the ring. WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is out next for a pop.

Drew poses with the title before we get ready to go. Lana’s music hits and out she comes before they get going. Drew smiles but MVP and Lashley aren’t happy. Lana walks around Lashley at ringside. The bell rings and Drew unloads on MVP in the corner. MVP fights out but Drew turns it right back around and beats him down in the corner.

Drew with big chops in the corner as Lashley looks on. Drew blocks a shot from MVP and levels him with a clothesline. Drew drops MVP with a Glasgow Kiss headbutt, sending him out of the ring to the floor. Drew goes out and stares at Lashley to warn him. MVP takes advantage of the distraction, sending Drew into the steel steps and then the Plexiglas barrier.

MVP brings Drew back in and floors him with a big boot. MVP covers but Drew kicks out at 1. MVP strikes but Drew clotheslines him again. Drew keeps control as Lashley looks worried. Drew goes to the top and nails the flying right hand to MVP. Drew kips up for another pop. Drew waits in the corner for MVP to get up. Lashley pulls MVP out to safety before the Claymore Kick can be delivered.

Drew runs and launches himself over the top rope to the floor, taking Lashley and MVP down. Drew returns to the ring with MVP and counts down, then delivers a big Claymore for the pin to win.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

After the bell, Lashley immediately hits the ring before Drew can get to his feet from the pin. Lashley applies the Full Nelson to Drew and manhandles him in the middle of the ring for a few seconds. RAW goes off the air with Drew still stuck in the Full Nelson.

MVP is in the ring for another episode of The VIP Lounge. He brings out his guest and introduces him as the soon-to-be former WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre.

Drew comes out and destroys the set. Drew wants to know where Bobby Lashley is. MVP says Lashley won’t be taking Drew out tonight or putting the submission on him, they’re saving that for Backlash. MVP asks Drew to remember the last time he had him on the show. MVP recalls how he tried to be a friend to Drew and Drew repaid him with a Claymore. They go on until Lashley is introduced as his music hits.

Drew suddenly drops MVP with a Claymore as Lashley approaches the ring. Lashley pulls MVP out to safety as Drew yells at him to enter the ring and fight. Drew begs Lashley to come in and fight. Lashley helps MVP up the ramp and to the back as Drew raises the WWE Title in the air while his music hits.

Charly catches up with Drew McIntyre backstage now. Drew says he was on his way out of the building. He didn’t plan to Claymore MVP earlier but MVP asked for it. Kayla asks Drew if he knew about tonight’s tag team match with MVP and Lashley vs. The Street Profits. Drew suddenly forgets something in the locker room and says he probably won’t find it until that tag match is over. Back to commercial.

The Street Profits win via DQ

After the bell, the music immediately hits and out comes WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. Drew hits the ring as Lashley tells him to bring it. Drew with a Glasgow Kiss headbutt. They brawl and then tumble to the floor. Lashley beats Drew against the barrier. Drew fights back and brings it back into the ring. Drew mounts Lashley with big strikes. The referee calls for help to come break things up. He instructs some of the male developmental talents to come from the crowd into the ring. They hit the ring and Drew drops them with headbutts and strikes. Lashley takes advantage and drops Drew with a big Spear. The referee calls for more trainees to come in the ring to break things up. Drew and Lashley are separated but they fight back and take the trainees out. More trainees hit the ring and finally have Lashley and Drew kept apart in opposite corners. RAW goes off the air with Lashley and McIntyre yelling at each other from opposite corners.

Charly is backstage with King Corbin now. She asks if he has any doubts about tonight’s match with Drew McIntyre. Corbin says Drew may be WWE Champion but he’s not king. We see Drew watching the interview as Corbin goes on taking shots. Corbin says he’s going to take advantage of every mistake Drew makes tonight, then beat him. Corbin says the next time he steps in the ring with Drew after tonight will be the main event of WrestleMania, and he will take the WWE Title.

Charly is backstage with Drew McIntyre now. Drew is having fun and having a good time. He says the Brand-To-Brand Invitational is great and makes way for dream matches in WWE. Drew goes on and calls King Corbin a terrible human, but admits he does terrible things in the ring, and is dangerous. Drew says Corbin does what it takes to win, but he’s got a special Claymore with Corbin’s name on it, one fit for a king. Drew walks off.

We go to the ring for tonight’s non-title main event as WWE Champion Drew McIntyre makes his way out. Back to commercial.

Back from the break and we’re back to the axe-throwing contest at the reenactment. The fake cops have all four Superstars lined up, asking if they know how dangerous it is to throw axes as someone could get hurt. The one female cop is going to let them go this one time because Ivar is cute, but Erik not so much. Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins joke around with them to end the segment. We go back to the ring and out comes King Baron Corbin, representing SmackDown in this Brand-To-Brand Invitational match.

The bell is about to ring but the music interrupts and out comes Bobby Lashley with MVP to the stage. MVP says he and Lashley have taken a personal interest in this match. MVP praises Corbin and McIntyre, then hands the mic to Lashley. Lashley puts Drew on notice and says he’s coming for Drew and the WWE Title, and if he needs to pry it from his cold dead hands, that’s exactly what he will do. MVP tells them to make it good because they will be watching. We go back to commercial.

Back from the break and Drew locks up with Corbin. MVP and Lashley watch from the stage. Drew takes it to the corner and backs off as the referee warns him. They shove each other. They lock up again and Corbin drives a knee into the gut. Drew ends up ducking a clothesline and nailing a chop. Corbin turns it back around and unloads with body strikes in the corner. Corbin hits the ropes and drops Drew with a shoulder. Corbin talks some trash as they run the ropes. Drew drops Corbin with a shoulder. Drew keeps fighting and knocks Corbin to the floor. Drew follows and clotheslines Corbin over the barrier.

The referee counts as MVP applauds Drew. Drew clotheslines Corbin back over the barrier to the ringside area. Drew rocks Corbin again and rolls him back in the ring. Drew readies for a Claymore kick but Corbin rolls to the floor. Corbin turns it around and knocks Drew from the apron to the barrier with a shoulder. Drew is down on the floor now. Corbin follows and launches Drew face-first into the ring post as MVP taunts from the stage.

Drew comes back in but Corbin works him over some more. Corbin takes it to the corner and continues to manhandle Drew. Drew fights back with big chops. Corbin charges, runs out and runs right back in with a big clothesline for a 1 count. Drew fights back with chops now. Corbin is still fighting. Drew gets sent to apron, then hung up on the top rope. The referee warns Corbin as he rocks Drew on the apron again. Corbin has Drew up top now. Drew fights back. Corbin climbs up for a superplex and he nails it. Corbin rolls over for the count but Drew kicks out at 1.

Drew gets upset and starts making a comeback. Corbin gets launched overhead. Drew goes to the top and comes flying down with an axe handle. Drew kips up and yells at Corbin while he’s down. Drew puts Corbin on his shoulders but he slides down. Drew catches Corbin with a big Spinebuster for another close 2 count.

Drew talks trash to Corbin while he’s down, telling him to get his ass up and prove himself. Corbin blocks the Futureshock DDT and rams Drew into the corners. Corbin with a big sideslam but Drew still kicks out at 1. Corbin can’t believe it. Corbin and McIntyre trade big strikes as MVP and Lashley look on from the stage. Drew catches Corbin and drops him with the DDT. Drew waits in the corner as Corbin slowly recovers. Corbin side-steps the Claymore and drops Drew with Deep Six. Drew kicks out just in time.

Corbin barks back at MVP’s distraction. Drew ducks End of Days and nails a Glasgow Kiss headbutt. Corbin runs out and right back in but Drew catches him with a big Claymore kick for the pin to win.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

After the match, Drew looks on and raises the WWE Title as the music hits. We go to replays. Drew looks up at MVP and Lashley, ranting about how he wants to fight Lashley and how the WWE Universe has been waiting for him to step up. MVP and Lashley look back at the ring as Drew raises the WWE Title in the air. RAW goes off the air.

After Angel Garza wins his match against Akira Tozawa out comes Drew McIntyre. Drew says he was just worried, and asks if they’re all on the same page again. They have some words and McIntyre delivers a big Claymore Kick to Theory. Garza and Andrade laugh at Theory. McIntyre delivers a big Claymore to Garza next, sending him out to the floor. Drew and Andrade face off now, trading words. Drew says he was trying to do Andrade a favor. They have words and stare each other down some more. Drew shoves Andrade and the stare down continues as we return to commercial.

Drew McIntyre vs. Andrade

Back from the break and this non-title Champion vs. Champion match is underway as Drew McIntyre and Andrade go at it.

Back and forth to start the match. Andrade takes control in the corner. They go on for a few minutes until Drew flattens Andrade. Vega looks on worried. Andrade goes out and Drew follows. Drew works Andrade into the barrier and then delivers a big chop. Andrade fights back and charges but Drew catches him with a tilt-a-whirl slam on the edge of the apron. The referee counts as Drew stalks Andrade on the floor. Andrade ends up suckering Drew in, sending him to the apron. Andrade unloads at ringside now as Vega watches all smiles.

Andrade brings it back in and stops the count. Andrade with a baseball slide into the hurt arm. Andrade focuses on the arm now. More back and forth between the two and pin attempts. Drew starts tossing Andrade around the ring, then levels him with a big boot. Drew flies off the top and puts Andrade back down. Drew kips up and keeps control. Drew rocks Andrade a few more times. Drew catches Andrade with a big sit-down powerbomb for another 2 count. Vega can’t believe it.

More back and forth between the two. Vega screams at the referee after a close call by Andrade. Drew gets up but Andrade is on him. Drew blocks the Hammerlock DDT and tosses Andrade away. They trade big chops. Andrade with a big back elbow. Drew with a Glasgow Kiss headbutt. Drew with ore offense into the corner. Andrade blocks the reverse Alabama Slam. Andrade ends up on Drew’s shoulders now and he can’t escape. Drew with the reverse Alabama Slam. Drew waits for Andrade to get up and nails the Claymore in the middle of the ring. Drew covers for the pin to win.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

After the match, Drew stands tall as his music hits. Drew has his arm raised as we go to replays. Drew takes the mic and says he didn’t come out to have a match, but he comes dressed to fight because anything can happen on RAW. Plus he’s always down to have a Claymore Party, and that was fun. Drew does want to address some things. He says his match with Seth Rollins at Money In the Bank was a hell of a fight, and Rollins brought it, but he won. Drew mentions the Brand-to-Brand Invitation next. He says RAW extended an invite to SmackDown and not only did they accept, they chose Drew as their opponent. He gives some clues and the biggest is that everyone on Earth hates this person. Drew says he is a terrible, terrible human being. Drew announces he will be facing King Baron Corbin next Monday on RAW. Drew says Corbin has finally stepped up but Drew promises he will have a Claymore fit for a king ready for Corbin next week. Drew drops the mic as his music starts back up. He makes his exit after saying he’s going to rip Corbin’s head off next week.

Backstage Charly Caruso interviews WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. He wished everyone a happy Mother’s Day. She reviewed that Drew defeated Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 36 and tonight is facing someone who has also beaten Brock, Seth Rollins. She said people were looking at him as an underdog. He said that everyone who knows his story and his ups and downs knows he’s David, not Goliath. Seth is phenomenal but there’s a little thing called heart, called passion, called desire. He’s worked his entire life to win the WWE title and he’s not going to lose it tonight. Seth can’t close his mouth, so Drew is going to break his jaw.

WWE Championship match: Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre

They lock up, and McIntyre quickly powers him to the corner. McIntyre gives a clean break. They lock up again, and McIntyre shoulder blocks him down. Rollins rolls out of the ring to recover and is smiling. Rollins gets in the ring, but McIntyre soon takes him down with a pair of clotheslines and a clothesline over the top rope. McIntyre tells him to take his time recovering because he’s enjoying himself.

Rollins gets back in the ring and circles around him. McIntyre quickly gets the better of him and chops the chest before taking him down. McIntyre viciously whips him into the corner twice before chopping him down. McIntyre connects with a suplex for a one count. McIntyre chops the chest and goes to lift him, but Rollins gets out and dropkicks him in the knee. Rollins ducks a clothesline and dropkicks him in the knee again. Rollins then sends him shoulder-first into the ring post, and McIntyre falls out of the ring. Rollins catches McIntyre with a suicide dive. Rollins gets him in the ring and hits a Sling Blade for a two count. Rollins applies a single leg crab, and McIntyre screams in pain. Rollins then drops down and applies the STF. Rollins transitions to a crossface, but McIntyre gets to the bottom rope to break the hold.

McIntyre rolls out of the ring to recover. Rollins hits a big suicide dive and shouts about his destiny. Rollins gets on the apron as McIntyre pulls himself up. Rollins hits a flying knee to the head and gets in the ring to reset the count. Rollins gets on the barricade and hits another flying knee to the head. Rollins gets in the ring to reset the count again before going outside and clearing off the commentary table. Rollins hits a third flying knee to the head. Rollins gets in the ring and shouts at McIntyre. Rollins goes for a suicide dive, but McIntyre catches him and hits a belly-to-belly overhead suplex on the commentary table!

McIntyre gets him in the ring and hits a pair of belly-to-belly overhead suplexes before booting him in the head. McIntyre goes to the top rope for a diving axe handle. McIntyre kips up and wills himself on. McIntyre sets up for a Claymore Kick, but Rollins escapes to the apron. Rollins snaps him off the top rope and kicks him before going for a springboard knee. McIntyre avoids it and hits a spinebuster for a near fall. McIntyre sets up for a Future Shock DDT, but Rollins kicks at the knee and connects with an enzuigiri. Rollins follows up with a superkick for a one count. Rollins goes to the top rope and hits a frog splash for another one count. The commentators are marveling at McIntyre kicking out at one.

Rollins goes outside and grabs a chair. The referee warns him. Rollins then throws the chair out of the ring and goes for a Stomp, but McIntyre moves. McIntyre hits a Glasgow Kiss and attacks. McIntyre goes to the top rope, but Rollins crotches him up there. Rollins sets up for a superplex, but McIntyre head-butts him down. Rollins quickly scales the ropes and hits a superplex before rolling into a falcon arrow for a near fall. McIntyre soon takes him down, but Rollins fights back and gets him in the tree of woe. McIntyre sits up and hits an inverted back-to-belly off the top rope. McIntyre sets up for a Claymore Kick, but Rollins superkicks him followed by a Stomp for a near fall. Rollins sizes him up again for a Stomp, but McIntyre hits a Glasgow Kiss. Rollins superkicks him back, and McIntyre floors him with a Claymore Kick for the win.

Winner: Drew McIntyre
